Implant Treatment

Implant treatment is carried out in clearly defined stages, allowing each step to be carefully planned and reviewed to ensure safe, predictable outcomes for our patients.

  • The initial consultation includes review of referral information, medical and dental history, and a thorough clinical examination supported by appropriate imaging. Once implant treatment is confirmed as suitable, the proposed plan, timing, and costs are discussed.

    Treatment Planning & Fees

Treatment costs are understandably a consideration with complex restorative dentistry. At the time of consultation, patients are provided with a detailed written estimate, including relevant item numbers for private health insurance rebate claims.

Where treatment involves both implant surgery and restorative care, fees are typically staged — with surgical fees initially, followed by restorative fees several months later once healing has occurred. This approach allows patients time to plan and manage treatment costs, rather than facing a single large upfront fee.

Payment plans can be arranged on a case-by-case basis for patients of record, and referral patients. No interest is charged even when payment plans are spread out over several months.

  • Implant placement is usually carried out at a separate appointment, with sedation options available where appropriate. We offer minor oral sedation, or IV sedation for longer or more complex cases. We realise that visiting the dentist can be stressful and it is important to us that our patients’ visits are as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Patients are required to be collected by a responsible carer following treatment. All post-operative medication is provided to support a comfortable and safe healing period. Sutures are typically reviewed and removed approximately 10 days later.

    Care & Communication

All patients who have undergone a surgical procedure are contacted the following day to ensure they are comfortable and recovering well.

Once treatment has commenced, patients are welcome to contact the practice at any time with any questions or concerns. Dr Hocking endeavours to respond personally wherever possible, usually by the end of the same day.

  • Following a healing period of approximately 3–4 months, implants are reviewed to confirm successful integration using clinical assessment and imaging.

  • Once integration is confirmed, patients are returned to the care of their referring restorative dentist for completion of the final crown or bridge. Where appropriate, provisional restorations may be used to refine aesthetics and function prior to final restoration.

We provide full communication and guidance to the referring dentist to support the best possible outcome.
